Unfolding Story

Hi Mallory and Michelle !
We left the cottage this morning, we closed all the windows in case for the rain and we put the black bin near the road. The keys are on the counter. We spent our days hanging out at the beach, looking at the ocean and eating seafood and ice cream.
Thank you so much for everything again, this week was everything we needed and much more than we were expecting, too.
I think I saw my mom and dad laughing more this week than in the past year.
We leave this morning, full of happy memories that were so much needed.  Thank you for being so awesome, kind, thoughtful and for giving us the chance to enjoy your magical cottage.
Hope to see you again and to come back to this perfect place
Laura and all the family  x

          Good evening Laura,
You and your family have been in our thoughts since departing PEI. We hope your week was everything you wished it to be
and that it was recuperative as well as formative. Nothing is a “silver bullet” in these circumstances  but most everything can be
a positive support if intended to be so. We hope the cottage experience played such a part for your extremely interesting family.
No need to vacate by 11:00 tomorrow, take your time. Leave the keys on the countertop, put the gray bin by the road if you
can, and drive safely as there will be rain headed your way. Hoping all the best to the story of your family and that our paths
        cross again.      Kind regards,
       Mallory and Michele

Hi Mallory!
I just wanted to take the time to write to you guys to tell that my mom passed away a month ago. She fought hard until the end.
The reason i'm writing to you is because your cottage and the time we passed in it was one of the memories we talked about at the hospital with her. Those moments we had together are really precious because after that her health deteriorated fast and we couldn't ger her out of the house anymore.
She told us she would think about the ocean while going away and that she was so glad she could see it one last time.
In short, I simply wanted to write to you to thank you again for allowing us to live those moments, and to tell you that your house will forever remain a very important memory in our family.
I hope everything is going well on your side ❤️

. . .another delightful two weeks!

Mallory, It is early Saturday morning and we are on the road back to Peterborough. We have had another delightful two weeks as your guests, and as always we cannot say enough about this special place you've made or thank you sufficiently for sharing it with us. We had great weather and fantastic sunsets, plus even a great view of an approaching lightning storm. We had wonderful days on the beaches (mostly Bothwell beach and Big Pond Road beach) and a great day kayaking the Morell River. And we are bringing home many driftwood and seaglass treasures. The most important piece of information I have to share with you, if you are not yet aware, is that you have a fox living beneath your tool shed, and she appears to have four -- count 'em -- cubs. The mother vixen first appeared to just be passing through in the evening on occasion. By the second week we saw her with one cub, then a second two nights later, and it took us some time to realize she lived on the prooperty. Then on Thursday evening she was out with four cubs. They romped and played on the lawn for quite some time, and it was quite a scene for us to watch (). Indeed, we wondered if this was the Cubs' maiden voyage out of the den (though they seemed quite big & healthy to be making their first trip outside). In any event, this situation may pose a nuisance for your property, and I do not know what kind of remedies are available under PEI wildlife legislation. Mom seems to be preparing her kits for independent life but my understanding is that they are likely to stick around for the summer. Thankfully they display no interest in the trash. I meant to call and chat while we were in PEI but never had the chance (my attention, rightly, was focused on the boys, who like to tease me about my enjoyment of "chitchat"). I will call once I am settled back in Peterborough. I have an idea for a magazine story about PEI that I'd like to run past you. Many thanks again. And please keep us in mind for early July again next year.
Talk soon,Philip

. . . having trouble after such a wonderful vacation!

Hi Mallory: I’m back at my desk and trying (without much luck) to refocus on my responsibilities. I’m really having trouble after such a wonderful vacation. We did over 3k miles in our 6 state, 3 province tour, met some fantastic people, saw some remarkable and spectacular country and found quite a bit of adventure. The Bay of Fundy was a wonder and Cape Breton was among the most scenic places I’ve ever visited but frankly, our visit to PEI was really just unbelievable. Truly a step back in time, the North Lake area and community is a place that I know we will return to many times in the future. Your house was such a great home base for us and as I mentioned, we look very much forward to spending a long, relaxing vacation there next August. I’m already searching for property for sale on the island so if you’re aware of anything please let me know.

Michele & Mallory, Thank you for making our trip to PEI so memorable. You have a lovely home/retreat and we’re happy to have been a part of the first “international PDK event” there. In spite of our week of fine dining, nothing matched our afternoon of gorging on mussels. We so much appreciate your hospitality.— Duffy & Laurie B.

Dear Mallory and Michele, All of us leave a huge thank you for an incredible week! We have been so comfortable and at home here in this beautiful house. We have loved sunrises and sunsets, wild lupine, watching the lobster boats go by, prowling the beaches, gathering stones and sea glass, reading on the deck, putting puzzles together and taking delight in an amazingly undeveloped spot. And we have feasted on our fair share of fresh sea food. Thanks for sharing this wonderful place with us! Gary and Gloria John (pictured with the 4 pound lobster) and Jemma Dave and Jackie

This picture represents the nadir of house building, especially when done some 800 miles away from home, over the course of three years. The reality of living on a construction site often dwarfed the original reasoning behind the final vision. The PEI album page contains additional images of, and comments about, the construction phase. In any event, the house IS done and so am I.
